Description:
I bought this car in May 2012 and drove home 120 miles with some problems, but survived. No indicators, alternator failed and flat out 50 mph. I stripped car to a shell renewed front wings to earlier model to suit chrome bumpers , doors and top shroud under windscreen. Cut out and replated 2 small holes but generally in good condition. Chrome bumper conversion. Renewed suspension bushes, bearings and springs to lower to correct hieght. Replace door and window seals. Strip engine fit new gaskets and seals repaint. Electronic ign and s/s exhaust. Overhaul HIF carbs replace wrong needles for K&N filters. new clutch. Renew brake cylinders and pipes. Rear axle stripped new bearings and seals replaced. Full respray. Waxoil. Electric windows alarm and cental locking fitted.All body panel replaced with Heritage panels. Where possible original parts were refurbished and refitted.M.O.T and back on the road in September 2012. Looking forward to the 2013 season.Winter 2013-14. Converted to Rover 3.5 V8 and 5-speed LT77 gearbox. With changes to the Diff, suspension, and brakes.Summer 2019 Disaster happened 1/4" washer "flicked" when removing air filter, it sounded like it hit the heat shield but did not find it. When I started the engine then I found it. How can something so small cause so much damage in 30 seconds?Smashed a plug, bent a valve embedded itself in the piston, broke piston rings, and gauged the bore. Exchanged engine for a new 3.9 V8 From RPI engineering. Mated to the new Vitesse MX5 conversion 5-speed box. 2022 fitted a Frontline five-link rear suspension with rear discs and a new Frontline rear axle with LSD, still needs running in!
