Position: IT Infrastructure Support Specialist Location: Glasgow Department: Information Technology Reports To: Manager, IT Infrastructure & Cybersecurity Position Summary The IT Infrastructure Support Specialist plays a pivotal role in the organization, championing the implementation, support & maintenance of Enterprise technology solutions. The successful candidate is a self-starter and is eager to learn and work with the latest tools and technologies, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations with an enhanced focus on cybersecurity and exceptional IT service delivery. Major Responsibilities Provide tier-3 escalation and troubleshooting support for the Company’s global technology solutions in a primarily Microsoft-based, Azure cloud-first IT environment. Support, upgrade and replace existing technology infrastructure solutions throughout their lifecycle. Participate in and/or lead new technology deployment projects together with the various IT teams and stakeholders as the business grows and IT service needs expand. Utilize a robust set of infrastructure & cybersecurity monitoring tools to maintain, monitor and report on system stability, performance and security. Proactively identify and resolve potential issues and respond to critical alerts. Liaise with external vendors and partners to maintain, support and implement new technology systems. Perform disaster recovery testing and participate in business continuity planning. Produce and maintain technical documentation for key areas and systems. Participate in change management procedures, following ITIL best practices. Perform system administration of Microsoft Windows based virtual machines, Windows endpoints and Azure/O365 services in a Hybrid Microsoft Active Directory environment. Participate in the planning and delivery of IT infrastructure modernization projects such as cloud infrastructure migrations, SaaS and container-based application deployments, and network and firewall replacements. Perform basic administration of the company’s network infrastructure including firewalls, switches, routers, VPNs and wireless, liaising with our third party managed network service provider when required. Deploy and support automation techniques, scripts and tools to provide efficient management of IT infrastructure services. Work with the business and other functional departments to coordinate patching and upgrades of key servers and platforms. Participate in on-call rotation which may include occasional after-hours work. Occasional travel to global offices to perform upgrades or other service deployments. Technology Environment The successful candidate will have direct interaction with the following infrastructure and security platforms, tools and services. Preference will be given to candidates who can exhibit competency and past experience working with a majority of the below technologies: Cloud: Azure IaaS & SaaS, AWS, Entra-ID, Office 365, Exchange Online, Teams, etc. Identity: Entra Cloud Sync, Entra PIM, conditional access, multi-factor authentication. Virtual Apps & Desktops: Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Citrix. On-Premises: Active Directory, File Services, HPE Servers, VMWare, HPE Nimble Storage. Network: Checkpoint Firewalls, Cisco Meraki Switching & Wireless, Site to Site VPN. Security: Crowdstrike EDR, Checkpoint Harmony, BeyondTrust, Defender, Logscaler. Backup & Disaster Recovery: Veeam, Azure Site Recovery (ASR), AWS Storage. Endpoint Management: Endpoint Manager (Intune), Datto RMM. Note: This list is not exhaustive and is subject to change. Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities) Experience of working in an IT support or system administration role. Previous hands-on experience working with a majority of the above listed technologies, preferably in a mid to large sized IT environment. Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail. Prioritisation skills to manage tasks effectively and meet project deadlines. Experience working with IT Service Management (ITSM) systems for problem ticket and change management tracking within a mid-large sized IT team. Proven track record of identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance service quality and availability. Demonstrated experience implementing new technologies and systems from start to finish. Expertise in IT hardware/software installation, modification, maintenance, and repair. Proficiency in systems management processes, automation and scripting. Preferred Possession of any relevant industry standard professional qualifications or certifications in Azure, Virtualization, Microsoft, ITIL, Networking and Cybersecurity. Possession of a post-secondary degree or equivalent in IT, Computer Science or a related discipline. Benefits Package Hybrid working.
