Job Title: Active Directory Architect – End User Computing Location: London, UK Duration: 6+ Month contract with Inside Ir35 Working Model: Hybrid Experience: 7 Years Overview: This is an external focussed consulting role, concentrating on the architecture of an existing Active Directory environment. The primary objective of this role is to assess the current state of the Active Directory environment, provide recommendations for aligning with best practice, improve security, improve efficiency, aligned with cloud strategy, and guide the implementation of these recommendations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Active Directory architecture, security, and cloud integration. Will possess a deep understanding of Tiered Active Directory infrastructure, including design, implementation, and maintenance. The candidate should have a proven track record of successfully architecting and managing large and complex Active Directory environments. While not mandatory, experience in the Energy and Utilities industries, covering both IT and OT, would be desirable. They must be confident in meeting customers, gathering their requirements, and answering their technical questions. They must also have strong documentation and presentation skills to support the delivery of design changes through customer review. They must also coordinate with other consultants to cover knowledge gaps and work closely with offshore engineering teams to ensure that designs are properly implemented. As the overall Active Directory architect, the candidate is expected to lead the discussion with the customer and drive the entire initiative from the outset. Responsibilities: Conduct a comprehensive review of the existing Active Directory deployment, including forests, domains, trusts, and group policies. Assess the security posture of the Active Directory environment, with a focus on securing Tier 0 infrastructure and implementing best practices for privileged access management. Review all Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to ensure they are aligned with security policies, compliance requirements, and business needs. Identify opportunities for consolidation and optimization. Evaluate the organizational unit (OU) structure and provide recommendations for streamlining and standardizing OU design to improve manageability and scalability. Review the security baseline for the Active Directory environment, including recommending configurations for domain controllers, member servers, and client systems. Collaborate with client teams and stakeholders to align Active Directory improvements with the organization's overall cloud strategy. Document recommendations and implementation plans, including timelines, resource requirements, and potential risks. Provide technical leadership and to teams involved in implementing the Active Directory improvements. Experience: 7+ years of experience designing, implementing, and managing Active Directory environments in enterprise-scale environments. In-depth knowledge of Active Directory architecture, security best practices, and cloud integration strategies. Strong expertise in reviewing and optimising Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and organisational unit (OU) structures. Experience with privileged access management (PAM) solutions. Extensive experience with Active Directory Tiering. Experience with Microsoft EntraID Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to broad range of stakeholders. Excellent presentation and documentation skills Ideally Energy and Utilities industry experience
