Job Details Job Title:Communications Operator : HC616465 Location: Southampton Central Police Station Salary: Scale 3 : GBP 23,121 : GBP 24,462 per annum FTE Hours: 15 hours per week Contract: Temporary for 12 months Closing date:Sunday 26th May 2024 at 23:59 hours Information for Internal Staff who wish for this role as a secondment Internal Secondment Declaration Form If you would like for this temporary post as a secondment you must have the prior approval of your current Line Manager and Head of Department. Please therefore ensure you have completed the 'Police Staff Internal Secondment Declaration', and forwarded it as instructed to obtain their sign:off. This step must be completed so the form is submitted as part of the application process, prior to the vacancy's closing date. Your declaration form should be uploaded alongside your application form. Please note that completion of this declaration is required whether or not your application is supported. Lack of managerial support will not prohibit you from applying, but it may have implications on your employee status. As a result you should consider this fully. Such applications will be treated on a case:by:case basis and following consultation with the Head of HR and OD, as per the Secondment guidance. Are you looking for a new opportunity? As a Communications Operator you will provide a telephone switchboard service on behalf of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary. Key accountabilities include but are not limited to: 1. To action routine police/public telephone calls, identifying suitable departments/personnel that can assist with their enquiries. 2. To maintain effective liaison with internal and external departments and agencies utilising the full range of communication methods available. 3. To deal with confidential material in a responsible manner. 4. To make full and effective use of local computer systems. 5. To maintain efficient and effective office systems and records. For more information about the role please click here. Working days are Mondays and Wednesdays 08:00:16:00 with a 30 minute break. There is parking on site on a first come first served basis. Essential Experience A minimum of two years experience in the following areas: a) direct contact with the General Public on a daily basis. b) switchboard, or other busy inbound call handling environment.
