SEND Art and Photography Teacher (KS3) Job Type : Full Time, Permanent Location: Beddington Park, Church Lane, Wallington Salary: Teacher Main Scale (Outer London Area) A GBP 34, 514 : A GBP 46,001 + SEN Allowance A GBP 2,539, Salary determined on appointment plus an SEN allowance. Depending on qualifications and experience Hours: 36 hours per week, 52 weeks per year The Role The Academy is an outstanding special school situated at the edge of Beddington Park in Wallington. It has 247 students aged 7:18 with a wide range of ability levels and additional learning needs, including complex needs. There are plans for the school to move to a purpose built Free School in 2024. The Academy strives to develop the full potential of everyone within its school community and provides a broad and wide:ranging curriculum. Enriching experiences are offered such as residential and curriculum visits and students can access a full range of therapies on site. Key Responsibilities * The education and welfare of designated classes or groups of pupils in accordance with the requirements of Conditions of Employment of School Teachers, having due regard to the Academys aims, objectives and schemes of work, and policies.* To share in the corporate responsibility for the wellbeing and pastoral care of all pupils.* To carry out any reasonable instructions given by the Principal or Senior Leadership Team.* Have clear intentions for childrens learning and to use knowledge of school policy and National Curriculum requirements to plan differentiated work to meet the needs of individuals and groups promoting progression, continuity and quality of learning.* Use a variety of suitable teaching and learning styles and to communicate clear learning objectives and expectations.* Use relevant classroom management strategies to ensure that a purposeful environment for teaching and learning can take place.* Organise and maintain a stimulating working environment appropriate for the range of activities taking place.* Ensure that resources are organised and readily available to promote learning.* Support positive behaviour taking into account the personal, social and emotional needs of pupils.* Establish and maintain a positive regard towards both pupils and staff, promoting equality and diversity.* Work as a member of a team, planning co:operatively, sharing information, ideas and expertise.* Consult and plan with multi:agency colleagues, as appropriate.* Act as a form tutor and establish good relationships with families to promote pupils learning and development.* For general class teachers, consistently and accurately assess pupils progress and achievement, especially in English, maths and science.* For subject specific teachers, consistently and accurately assess pupils progress and achievement in the relevant subject.* Monitor and assess pupils work and use assessment data effectively to inform planning and identify individual needs. Use these assessments to set appropriate targets.* Keep effective and in:depth records of pupil progress and report overall achievement in line with school policy and statutory requirements Skills and Qualifications * Qualified Teacher Status* A good degree, 2.2 or above in the relevant subject advertised.* Recent successful experience of working with and/or teaching pupils with special educational needs within any school setting including mainstream schools, teaching a v
