The Scientist will work with a team to develop cell-based flow cytometry assays, perform fit-for-purpose validations, and assay clinical samples to return high-quality data for clinical trials conducted by Moderna. You will be an integral part in applying high parameter flow cytometric assays using a spectral cytometer to generate key clinical data to drive clinical trial decisions. The candidate will have broad knowledge of best practices in clinical flow cytometry with proven experience. The Scientist will effectively communicate across multi-disciplinary teams to contextualize program needs and effectively plan studies to meet data rigor expectations and deliver data within required timelines. In addition, the candidate will be involved in the training of less experienced team members when and where needed to perform analytical work and maintain clinical testing integrity and continuity. Here's What You'll Do: Your key responsibilities will be: Work with a team of scientists to perform high parameter spectral flow cytometry assays on clinical trial samples in adherence to GCLP guidelines to generate key data for clinical decision making. Acting as a study lead, plan, organize, and execute assay qualification and fit-for-purpose validation studies. Run experiments independently and accurately analyze and present data. Conduct ex vivo experimental work for functional profiling of immune responses. Coordinate within the team to plan and execute clinical sample testing under GCLP guidelines. Working across functions and matrix throughout the organization, you will engage with Biomarker leads to select appropriate assays to meet biomarker strategy goals, particularly as related to assay readiness for clinical deployment. Work with the Associate Director of Clinical Flow Cytometry and the team to establish timelines for analytical testing including study start-up, clinical testing, study wrap-up, and data transfer. Author reports including SOPs, analytical study plans, analytical study reports, as needed. Work with the team to refine documentation procedures and workflows aligned to clinical cytometry industry expectations and regulations. Identify and resolve issues in flow assays, employ mitigation strategies, and escalate issues, as needed. Identify and work on optimizing processes to alleviate bottlenecks in current workflows to increase efficiency. Educate and train less experienced staff in flow cytometry, technical detailed execution of assays, and documentation requirements and workflows where appropriate. Research scientific and technical literature to propose, test, and implement innovative solutions that may be applicable to the laboratory.
