Department: Delivery Location: Home based, UK Reports to: Training Delivery Manager Hours: 37.5 per week Salary: (Depending on experience) Role Overview As a Functional Skills Trainer at Cambridge Spark, you will have dedicated and specific responsibilities related to supporting learners through their Functional Skills (FS) programmes, particularly in English. You will ensure that learners with FS requirements receive the necessary support, either directly or through coordination with existing team members, to complete their programmes within 6 months of their start date. You will manage a dedicated caseload of learners, delivering timely one-to-one learning reviews and group support sessions focused on helping them navigate and overcome challenges in their Functional Skills courses to ensure progress in their apprenticeship programme. The role will work closely with the wider Delivery team to ensure a collaborative approach is employed to ensure timely completion. The Functional Skills Trainer will provide guidance and support to learners as needed, including helping them to understand and complete their learning plans, develop study skills specific to their Functional Skills programmes, and build confidence in their ability to succeed. You will support the wider teams to determine progress for learners by maintaining accurate records and documentation related to the support provided. To be successful in this role, you should have strong communication and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of learners and support staff. You should also be organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation. Key responsibilities: Manage Learner Caseload: Oversee a dedicated caseload of learners enrolled in Functional Skills programmes.. Provide tailored support to meet individual learner needs and ensure their progress. Deliver Support Sessions: Conduct one-to-one learning reviews to help learners overcome challenges in their FS programmes. Develop and implement strategies to facilitate learner understanding and mastery of FS concepts. Coordinate with Teams: Collaborate with the wider Delivery team to identify and address the specific needs of learners in FS English. Work with team members to provide additional equipment or adapt learning activities as necessary. Provide Guidance and Support: Assist learners in understanding and completing their learning plans. Help learners develop effective study skills specific to FS. Build learner confidence in their ability to succeed in their FS programmes. Maintain Records and Documentation: Keep accurate records of support provided to each learner. Document learner progress and any additional support actions taken. Use documentation to track learner development and inform future support strategies. Collaborate and Communicate: Work effectively with a diverse range of learners and support staff. Communicate learner progress and needs with relevant team members to ensure cohesive support. Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required. Organise and Plan: Plan and organise support sessions to fit within the learners’ apprenticeship programme schedule. Ensure that all support activities are aligned with overall programme goals and learner needs. Monitor Progress: Regularly assess learner progress and adjust support strategies as needed. Provide feedback to learners to help them stay on track with their Functional Skills learning goals.
