The Benefit Assessor will assess all types of Housing Benefit including Supported, Temporary accommodation, self-employed, PFAs and Council Tax Support claims, as well as dealing with customer’s enquiries, and delivering excellent customer care. Requirements Previous experience working in a similar roleKnowledge of legislation, policies, and procedures surrounding Housing Benefit and Council Tax BenefitExcellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and accessible mannerGood organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage workload efficiently, and meet deadlinesExperience providing an effective service to members of the publicAbility to work to tight deadlines and targets Role Expectations Assess Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit applications, from a wide range of backgrounds. Includes investigating overpayment claims, initial investigation of complaints, and verifying claimsAdvise customers, promote the use of available and relevant Benefits, and promote applicationIdentify overpaid benefits and initiate recovery process in accordance with legislationConduct home visits where necessary to aid in benefit related enquiriesLiaise with external partners, including local authorities and support agencies, and ensure effective service is deliveredDevelop working relationships with colleagues, as well as key partnersWork in partnership with the Council Tax Billing, Recovery, and Fraud sections and maintain effective communicationMaintain Records: Accurately record all interactions, assessments, and decisions in line with relevant policies and procedures, ensuring confidentiality and data protection guidelines are strictly followed If you are interested in this position and meet the above criteria, please send your CV now for consideration.
