An exciting opportunity to join a world-renowned company as a senior ecologist, dedicated to the protection and improvement of the environment via a multitude of sectors, including energy, agriculture, land development and utilities. Joining their well-established Ecology Team, you will be working largely within the private sector, providing your expertise on a variety of engaging projects, as well as receiving a diverse range of training and support opportunities. This role would be ideal for any experienced Ecologists looking to take the next step in their careers and leave their mark on major projects across the UK. The nearest local office regarding this role will be located in London however the company is able to be flexible regarding location and work arrangements. Role Responsibilities: * Designing and managing ecological surveys and any associated mitigation. * Carrying out phase 2 surveys for species under legal protection. * Delivering high-quality ecological reports and junior-team performance reviews. * Assume responsibility for extended phase 1 habitat surveys with the aim of mapping and describing accurately habitats as well as assessing their ability to support protected species. * Developing new and maintaining existing effective relationships within the business, third parties (regulators etc.) clients and key subcontractors. * Project Management, potentially overseeing multiple multidisciplinary projects. * Additionally, there will be potential to mentor and manage junior team members should you wish to explore that avenue. Qualifications & Experience: Essential: * Relevant Experience working as a professional ecology consultant. * Strong practical experience of ecological field study skills across multiple protected species and their habitats. * Adept at producing clear, concise technical reports within CIEEM guidelines. * Knowledge of UK legislation and policy framework regarding ecology and nature conservation. * A full, clean UK driving license. * A member of CIEEM. Desirable: * Experience reviewing technical reports produced by other team members. * Experience using the latest Defra Biodiversity Metric is highly desirable, training can be offered for those new to or familiar with the current or previous iterations of the metric. * Experience producing fee proposals, liaising with clients and in project management would be ideal also. * Additional licenses and qualifications e.g. EPSM license (Bat level 2+, Barn Owl etc.). * Chartered member (CEnv, CEcol etc.).
