Description:
* SORRY, THIS IS AN OLD AD FROM 2020. Situation no longer available. We don't have the capacity to respond. * Tideturner Films is an independent documentary film production company, producing films that spark change - turn the tide - on injustice. This year will see the release of Tideturner's first feature documentary, I Am Belmaya, an inspirational tale of a young woman in patriarchal Nepal who takes the movie camera and power into her own hands, to transform her life. The film follows Belmaya's 5-year journey to become an award-winning filmmaker while exploring themes of domestic violence, gender and caste discrimination and education for girls. In the field of independent film, however, there are few funding sources. Whether you want to be a major film producer, or make independent films with social impact, you will need to find creative ways of raising funds. We have made a beautiful film and now need to raise additional funds to cover post-production finishing costs (sound edit/mix, colour grading) and marketing/publicity in the lead-up to the release of the film. We are seeking one or two interns to work part-time either in our South London base, or remotely, or a combination, with an interest/speciality in fundraising/crowdfunding/sponsorship, to assist director/producer Sue Carpenter. Job description: - reaching out to potential funders, grant-making bodies, charities (eg a charity working in women’s rights or girls’ education who may wish to partner with the film to spread their message) and corporate sponsors (eg a company that wishes to raise its profile in supporting women’s rights, for its CSR) - potentially filling in funding applications - working on funding proposals - growing our existing GoFundMe campaign to extend beyond Tideturner’s own circles. Or alternatively setting up and managing a new crowdfunding campaign on a platform like Kickstarter which has better reach for filmmakers but needs concentrated monitoring and marketing for a set period (about 1 month). - working in a team with our media/marketing intern to reach individual donors via social media - opportunity to work across Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts, composing engaging posts - Researching relevant hashtags- reaching out to influencers Ideal candidate: - Self-starting and able to take ownership of role/project - project management skills - someone who wants a career in crowdfunding and would like experience of setting up and managing a campaign - Focused, organised and systematic - Excellent written skills and attention to detail - Interest in film and filmmaking a plus - Excited to be part of a small team and contributing creatively to what we hope will be an award-winning film - Your name in the film credits! To start: - from the week of 24 Feb or soon after, 1-2 days a week for up to 4 months, or a more concentrated block of up to 4 weeks for running a crowdfunding campaign- working either from Tideturner’s base, or part-time, or remotely, or a combination. NB This is not a summer vacation internship Qualifications: Current or recent university/masters student in relevant field
