Primary PurposeThe Software Test and Validation Engineer will develop and execute testing programs to ensure the reliability and safety of embedded software used in power transmission equipment. They will perform unit and system integration testing, conduct static and dynamic analysis, and collaborate with engineers to maintain high software quality across continuous product releases.Software Test and Validation Engineer – London Hybrid – £ Rate DOE - Contract min 6 months Primary Purpose The Software Test and Validation Engineer will develop and execute testing programs to ensure the reliability and safety of embedded software used in power transmission equipment. They will perform unit and system integration testing, conduct static and dynamic analysis, and collaborate with engineers to maintain high software quality across continuous product releases.Key Responsibilities Testing and Validation: Develop and execute test programs to validate software performance, ensuring all systems operate as specified.Unit and Integration Testing: Independently plan and perform unit testing, and system integration testing of PFE components, including embedded software and hardware interfaces.Static Analysis: Conduct thorough static analysis using tools such as linters and SAST, ensuring code quality and identifying potential issues before they impact the system.Dynamic Analysis: Perform runtime analysis to detect memory buffer overflows, runtime issues, and input-dependent flaws.Automated Testing: Propose and implement automated testing frameworks and tools to optimise testing procedures and ensure consistent test execution.Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to provide detailed feedback on product performance, potential issues, and areas for improvement. Maintain open communication and proactively seek assistance when necessary. Experience Required Minimum 5+ years of experience in embedded product testing, with a strong focus on firmware, hardware, and software integration.Proficiency in Linux operating systems, GUI development, and web technologies such as JavaScript and HTML5.Extensive experience with embedded C/C++ programming and real-time operating systems RTOS.Hands-on experience with static and dynamic analysis tools, particularly in the context of embedded systems.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to discuss technical details with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
