Description:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Roads Design Engineer to join an expanding Highways and Transportation team in Cork. The successful candidate will play a key role in the planning and design of road, rail, public transport, and active travel projects across Ireland. This position requires a motivated and enthusiastic engineer who is comfortable taking on responsibility, working collaboratively within a team, and supervising junior staff. The role involves contributing to statutory processes, preparing contract documents, and overseeing contract administration and construction supervision. Requirements: Extensive experience in a consultancy environment, specifically in roads and transportation design. A degree in Engineering (Level 8/9) is required. Chartered Engineer status or close to achieving it within 12 months. Proficiency in relevant design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley OpenRoads, etc. Strong knowledge of relevant design standards (TII, NTA) and the ability to apply them in practical, buildable designs. Experience in design and build projects. Demonstrated experience in the development of road schemes, including feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed design, statutory processes, procurement, contract documentation, and construction supervision. Full Irish/EU driving license. Key Responsibilities: Design and Planning: Lead the planning and design of road, rail, public transport, and active travel projects throughout Ireland. Statutory Processes: Contribute to statutory processes such as Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR), Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPO), and others. Contract Documentation: Prepare comprehensive contract documents and manage contract administration. Construction Supervision: Oversee construction supervision, ensuring projects are delivered to a high standard. Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. Project Management: Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with all relevant standards and regulations. Client Interaction: Maintain strong relationships with clients, providing expert advice and updates throughout the project lifecycle. This role offers a dynamic and challenging opportunity for an experienced engineer to contribute to high-profile transportation projects and advance within a growing team
