Our products are used in a variety of sectors including high performance, safety critical aerospace, defence, healthcare, oil and gas and Formula 1. We are a forward-thinking business with approximately 300 employees across the UK and US, and you’ll be joining our head office based in Swinton , Greater Manchester. The Package – NPI Chemist Permanent contract, working 37 hours per week within Monday to Friday Salary in the region of £30,000/annum level dependent on experience Potential to earn annual bonus 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays Company pension Option to participate in company share scheme Free on-site parking The Role – NPI Chemist As the NPI Chemist you will work as part of the New Product Introduction Team. This team is part of a wider and dynamic R&D team that aims to facilitate sustainable growth of our technology and product portfolio as well as providing outstanding customer support and services. The main purpose of the role is to support the development of new products to secure new business opportunities as well as new processes which are safe, reliable and cost effective via the New Product Development process. Specific duties will include: NPI Chemist Overseeing the scale-up of new products and processes from laboratory scale to pilot and full-scale production Liaising with other business functions, such as operations, engineering, commercial, etc. to facilitate an efficient and robust scale up process Providing technical support to the Operations department to combat problems with existing products and processes Contribute to the production of relevant NPD documentation such as FMEAs and control plans Work on continuous improvement projects, e.g. cost saving, energy efficient or product life cycle initiatives Assist with the sourcing and commissioning of new pilot plant equipment Work as part of multi-disciplinary teams (e.g. internally with Quality, Operations, Sales colleagues) to ensure that new and existing products meet our customer expectations Ensure strict adherence to all HSE requirements in all activities Responsible for ensuring laboratory 5S standards are maintained Any other duties within the post holder’s competence as requested. The New Product Introduction team support activities across both our UK and US manufacturing facilities, therefore some international travel may be required. Our Requirements – NPI Chemist A minimum of 2 years’ experience gained in a similar industrial setting, transferring technology from lab scale to pilot and full production scales Degree level qualification in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with practical knowledge of Process Chemistry Handling of hazardous materials Experience in the preparation of inorganic materials Ability to handle data and interpret results to prepare technical reports Excellent written and oral communication skills Good knowledge of Microsoft Office High level of attention to detail Ability to manage own workload with good time management Team player with a positive attitude Flexibility with hours worked As a Disability Confident employer, we will ensure that a fair and proportionate number of disabled applicants that meet the minimum criteria for this position will be offered an interview.
