Promotingand safeguarding the welfare of children and young people is paramount at all times. The homes operate24-hours each day, every day of the year, requiring round-the-clock staffing and management. Adequate command of the spoken Englishlanguage and good verbal communication skillsAdequate English literacy reading and writingcommunication skillsAdequate numeracy skillsDomestic skills e.g. basic cookingPhysical ability to learn and use techniques formanaging challenging behaviour, using physicalholding/restraint if necessaryAdequate IT skills Ability to undertake sleeping-in dutiesAbility to work the shift pattern and unsocialhoursAbility to accept and use supervisionappropriately and effectivelyCommitment to equal opportunities and toworking within a multicultural framework
