Job Title: Principal/Senior Water Quality Scientist Location: Dublin, Cork, Galway or Dundalk Experience: 5+ years ideally Contract: Full time & permanent Job Description: One of the world's leading providers of environmental professional consulting and support services with offices across Ireland are seeking a Senior/Principal Water Quality Scientist for water projects, schemes and to address general water use and management issues throughout Ireland. You will be an environmental scientist, water chemist, or water quality expert. You will know about and understand the water quality/chemistry aspects of ecological status as defined by the Water Framework Directive and will have a good understanding of the kind of measures that need to be implemented to improve water quality where it is currently poor. You will have good experience and understanding of the main water quality issues adversely impacting Ireland's water resources, primarily from agriculture (nutrients, pesticides) but also from wastewater treatment in urban centres and more diffuse and dispersed impacts like leaking septic tanks and use of pesticides. You will need a good knowledge of water chemistry and the behaviour of common pollutants of freshwater resources, as well as of up-and-coming issues, such as hormones and modern medicines and chemicals. Desirable Skills/Experience: Educated to at least Degree level (Level 8/9). Relevant work experience, at least some of which will be in a consultancy environment. Chartered Scientist, Environmentalist or Ecologist. Experience of undertaking business development and client engagement. Experience pf proposal and tender writing and winning and delivering won work. Full Irish/EU driving licence. Personal Qualities: Must be an excellent communicator. Must be able to deal confidently with clients, staff reports and senior managers. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. High level of personal integrity and commitment to upholding company values. Flexible approach with the ability to multi-task and prioritise. Positive outlook and approachable manner.
