About the Role As an HGV Mechanic, you’ll be at the heart of a busy fleet operation. Your main responsibility will be to keep a range of HGVs in prime working condition through routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs. From diagnosing complex faults to carrying out thorough inspections, you’ll ensure all vehicles are safe, reliable, and roadworthy. Whether it's responding to breakdowns or conducting scheduled repairs, your role will be vital to minimizing vehicle downtime and maximizing efficiency. Working Hours Monday to Friday 50 hours per week (flexibility for occasional overtime or call-outs) Based in Devon, servicing the South West region Key Duties Perform scheduled maintenance, servicing, and repairs on HGVs Conduct thorough vehicle safety checks and ensure compliance with legal standards Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults Respond to breakdowns and provide roadside or on-site repairs Maintain accurate records of repairs and inspections Work closely with fleet managers to ensure minimal vehicle downtime Order and fit new parts as necessary, ensuring timely completion of all jobs Key Requirements Minimum of 3 years' experience as an HGV Mechanic NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Strong knowledge of HGV electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems A full UK driving licence HGV licence Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently A solid understanding of health and safety regulations in vehicle maintenance Benefits Company Van Workplace pension Uniform provided On-site parking If you're ready to bring your skills to a dynamic and supportive team, we want to hear from you!
