Description:

Boat Details The Corby 33 was designed by renowned Cowes yacht designer and boat builder John Corby. Drawn up to be an IRC race winning yacht she has proven to a highly successful campaign boat in a wide range of conditions. 'Jacob' has been raced in the RC35 Class (IRC banding 1.010 to 1.040) on the West Coast of Scotland (and Ireland) by her current owner and crew since 2016. Dry sailed and raced in six events annually she has been well looked after and maintained over the years. Benefitting from a new carbon mast and boom in 2018 and a comprehensively updated sail wardrobe (including a new North Sails 3Di Endurance mainsail) 'Jacob' is ready for a new owner to continue her run of success.Lying ashore at Kip Marina please call our office to arrange an appointment to view. 360 Dimensions LOA 10.00m LWL 10.00m Beam 2.95m Draft 2.20m Displacement 4250Kg OWNERS COMMENTS "The Corby 33 is a beautiful boat to sail, perfectly balanced for upwind and downwind racing. Famous for their ability to climb upwind, especially in seas and wind. Good downwind performance but must be sailed at the correct angles downwind. Optimised for windward leeward racing. This is a true offshore boat, having won the Irish Fastnet with the original owner and multiple events in the RC35 calendar. It has been sailed to and from Ireland many times over the years and is a pleasure to sail in rough weather. The boat is as stiff as a board thanks to the construction.'Jacob' has been the boat to beat on the RC35 circuit since it's inception. The boat would benefit greatly from a change in keel. The large bulb carries a penalty on IRC. The original boat had a heavy sectioned alloy mast. With the Seldon Carbon mast now installed (according to John Corby's calculations) there is greater than 80kg more righting moment at the centre of the mast. This means a new L-Shaped keel could be installed. This in-turn would increase the stern overhangs even more and dramatically optimise the IRC rating for 6-22kts. The sails are in pristine condition being laundered and repaired by North Gosport each season. They are taken off the boat after each event." Hull, Deck & Keel Foam and vinylester GRP hull.
