We are seeking a skilled Roads Design Engineer to join an expanding Highways and Transportation team in Cork. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the planning and design of a variety of transport projects across Ireland, including road, rail, public transport, and active travel initiatives. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Requirements: Degree in Engineering (Level 8/9) with relevant experience in a consultancy environment. Actively working towards Chartered Engineer status. Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bentley OpenRoads. Solid understanding of relevant design standards, with the ability to create practical, buildable, and cost-effective designs. Experience in planning and designing road schemes, preferably within Ireland, including feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed design, and statutory processes (EIAR, CPO). Experience in design and build projects, as well as contract document preparation, contract administration, and construction supervision. Full Irish/EU driving license. Responsibilities: Plan and design a range of transport projects, including roads, rail, public transport, and active travel schemes throughout Ireland. Contribute to statutory processes such as Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIAR) and Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPO). Participate in procurement processes and the preparation of comprehensive contract documents. Administer contracts and oversee construction supervision to ensure projects are delivered on time and to the required standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless project execution. Utilise relevant design software to develop high-quality, buildable designs that meet client requirements and adhere to industry standards.
